...because I was there. I found this clip a few minutes ago on youtube, wow! I still can't believe how the game ended. The scene down in College Station was an interesting, but memorable one. I managed to "acquire" a beer pitcher w/the A&M logo from one of the local watering holes. I still have it too. HA! One of my friends is diehard Aggie, I was going to tape a photo of the final score and present it to him on his next birthday.
Here's some of the photos from that trip, you've probably seen them in one of my previous posts. I can't wait until kickoff (not sure if I've previously expressed how impatient I am for the kickoff). I'm planning on attending at least 3 home games this season, if all goes to plan, maybe 1-2 more. That's not including away games, which right now stands at 2. The two away games on the schedule that I'm going to are in Lubbock and Norman.
This was one crazy game, so many ups and downs towards the end. By the end of the game, I had lost my voice and was drained from the excitement. I passed out the trip back, definitely glad that I didn't drive. A group of Huskers fans got together and rode down on a fan bus, I believe there were about 30 of us all together. There were a few Huskers fans that flew into Dallas from Omaha/Lincoln just to make the drive down to College Station with us. They were up all night partying and hadn't slept, one of them... well, they were paying for it later.
Here are a few video clips from the game. I was down on the sideline towards the end of the game and even celebrated with the team and their victory which clinched the Big 12 North title and appearance in the Big 12 title game held in Kansas City that year. The Big 12 title game will be back in KC this year (in San Antonio last season), then after that, it's going to be in Arlington, TX at the new Cowboys stadium for the next two years. This is a big bonus for me, I live down the street from it. I guess that I should plan on renewing my lease at least two more times eh?
Damn I love college football!
Cheers
Only 5 more days until Hatebreed (main site, myspace) comes to town! Hells ya I'm stoked. It's back at the Palladium Ballroom, not a bad place to jump into the pit. The last time I went, the pit action was intense. This time the band is going to be recording for the live album, so you can bet I'll be there again.
I've been fan since 2004 when my brother in law introduced me to their music. The first concert I went to was in December 2004 (Monsters of Mayhem Tour), I was fighting an upper respiratory infection at that time, but I didn't want to miss out. I probably should have stayed in to rest, but hell... it's Hatebreed.
What I've always respected about the band is that they play the large venues and even the smaller ones while out on tour. Jamey Jasta (frontman) said that without the fans, they wouldn't be where they are. He said it was the band's way of saying "thank you", so they play the smaller gigs to keep the ticket prices down.
Last year the band was headlining the Summer Of Supremacy Tour. The Dallas gig was the Monsters of Mayhem II show. Check out the flyer from last summer.
I'm going to try and sneak my camera into the show again. Last year, they wouldn't allow fans to take snapshots. I'd try to snipe a few here and there, but ended up waiting until the show was over to try and get some with the band. If you're in the area, try to attend, it's always a great night of music. Here's some shots from last year.
The first shot is of Jasta on stage, second shot is me hanging with Jasta after the show. The third shot is hanging with Trent (guitarist) of After the Burial, next shot is the paramedic that I asked to hold my stuff that night while I jumped into the pit (she was nice). Last shot, just the stage as they were breaking it down. If you've never been to a Hatebreed show, here's a video from Hellfest, the song is called "Puritan".
OZZFEST Returns As One-Day Stadium Festival With OZZY OSBOURNE And METALLICA - May 13, 2008
All eyes and ears will be on Dallas, Texas Saturday, August 9. Ozzfest — the original and iconic hard rock festival — returns in 2008 as a one-day stadium spectacular that teams Ozzfest founder and namesake OZZY OSBOURNE (in his only U.S. concert appearance this summer) with METALLICA (marking their Ozzfest debut).
Produced by Sharon Osbourne and AEG Live, the all-day festival at Pizza Hut Park in hard music-loving Dallas will feature three stages of non-stop talent (with many Ozzfest alumni) and reliably twisted Ozzfest side attractions.
Main Stage:
OZZY OSBOURNE
METALLICA
SERJ TANKIAN
HELLYEAH
JONATHAN DAVIS
CAVALERA CONSPIRACY
SHADOWS FALL
APOCALYPTICA
IN THIS MOMENT
All-star tribute to "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott
Second Stage:
SEVENDUST
DEVILDRIVER
KINGDOM OF SORROW
SOILENT GREEN
WITCHCRAFT
GOATWHORE
Texas (Third) Stage (homage to the "many great metal bands that come from Texas," according to Sharon Osbourne):
THE SWORD
DROWNING POOL
RIGOR MORTIS
"Ozzy just finished an 11-month world tour so I think he deserves a summer off," Sharon says about this year's one-day Ozzfest. "We're going to be a stadium destination festival for now — we have gone past doing the sheds every summer. We've given everyone else the blueprint and we have to keep evolving Ozzfest. This is just the beginning; AEG Live and I have a lot of new ideas for Ozzfest.
"
This year’s dynamic line-up encompasses artists who've played Ozzfest before in different incarnations such as Serj Tankian (SYSTEM OF A DOWN); Jonathan Davis (KORN); HELLYEAH's Vinnie Paul (PANTERA) and Chad Gray (MUDVAYNE); KINGDOM OF SORROW's Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED) and Kirk Windstein (DOWN); and Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, SEPULTURA) of CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. Other Ozzfest graduates include SHADOWS FALL, SEVENDUST, DEVILDRIVER, DROWNING POOL and IN THIS MOMENT.
"Ozzy has great relationships with all of the bands that have played Ozzfest," says Sharon. "We're the only real festival for harder edge bands and these artists have been very loyal to us — there is lots of love on this lineup.
"
Tickets for this year's Ozzfest will go on sale Saturday, May 31.
I was actually going to try and register a team name last night, but they locked the boards. UGH So much for that, oh well. I guess this will teach me to pay attention to the boards and keep an eye out for future tournaments.

Well, it looks like the AAFL (All-American Football League) that was to start playing their games on April 12th has been scrapped at least for this season (ESPN article). They're trying to get new funding to launch their inaugural season. Should I still try to buy my "Team Texas" gear?
Damn, what a show! The show sold out, there were several bands playing that night. The doors opened at 5:30 and the music was going on until midnight. The pit was one crazed mass which was a sight to see. The crowd was whipped into a frenzy once Hatebreed began to play. Nothing like some good ol Connecticut hardcore to polish off a long week.
After the show, I stayed after to talk with Trent (After the Burial) and Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed)(again), and take a couple photos. All in all, one hell of an evening. I didn't care that I got lost driving to the Palladium or that I was going the opposite direction after the show was over. My voice is barely going back to normal. Next up Ozzfest.... August 2nd, and guess which band will be headlining stage 2??? Yup, HATEBREED!
Monsters of Mayhem II Tour featuring Hatebreed!
Special guests: After the Burial, Terror, The Acacia Strain, Evergreen
Terrace, God Forbid
The dates are:
Monsters of Mayhem II featuring: Hatebreed, God Forbid,
Evergreen Terrace, Terror, The Acacia Strain and After the Burial support!
* Ozzfest*: Hatebreed will be headlining the 2nd stage for
their fifth appearance on the Ozzfest Tour.
Beginning June 12, fans can go to www.ozzfest.com or www.livenation.com to
find links that will direct them to sponsor sites where tickets can be
secured.
Here are a few photos from the first Monsters of Mayhem tour I attended (Dec 2004). I even met Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed vocalist) afterwards.

The first video are all the photos I had taken that day and just threw them together in a mini-vid with the Huskers fight song playing. Videos two and three are the fans at Memorial Stadium shortly before the Tunnel Walk and running of the team on to the field. The fourth video you'll see is a music video from Chevelle titled "The Red" highlighting the 2005 Alamo Bowl where Nebraska earned a come from behind victory over Michigan 32-28. The video theme is "Restore the Order" for the Alamo Bowl.
