It took me awhile to find this so I could finish it. HA! After the Knot concert, I had a few other things going on and didn't get the chance to finish this post and it was left incomplete.
I wanted to knock out the post concert blog post (wrap up). Nice use of a song title right? HA! You can browse my photos from the concert on Flickr. It was intense. Leading up to the night (check previous Vox posts 1, 2), I was hellbent on having the night off and requested at least 6 weeks in advance. Driving out, I took what I thought was a back road to the venue while trying to meet up with Ryan and Carly so we could all enter together. Bastard gave me bad directions. By this time, when not on the phone with him trying to find my way back to the main road, I was cursing his name....
I ended up beating them to Nokia Live. I parked VIP, it was worth it. I didn't have to deal with the crowds, the traffic of the main lot and parked right in front of the main entrance. The rabid fans (Maggots) were in full force, screaming, mass chanting and all this was before going in through the main doors to the arena. Crazy, yes? After making our way in, I told Ryan that I wanted a beer while I made a trip to the mens room to put my Knot mask on. I know that I could've put the mask on where we were, but I had a black makeup stick to blacken around my eyes and jawline. Trust me, after walking out, quite a few people screamed and threw up metal horns in approval. I wore the mask the entire night and drank my beer using a straw through the mouth area of the mask, it had a functioning zipper to open it. HA!
There were a few others in masks, but they wore Corey's or Chris' masks, I was the only one with Jim's. Then came the photos, fans coming up wanting to take a photo, take a group photo with the other Maggots in masks, all in all... it was metal. We didn't even make our way inside to catch the first 2 opening acts, we stayed in the lobby and drank. I must admit, I was hammered. I kept uploading photos (iPhone app) as fast as I could take them and as my signal would hold. After the intermission, we finally went in to find our seats (Bekkah and myself) while Ryan and Carly had pit tickets. I was envious at first, but didn't want my mask damaged in the pit so I bought tickets as close to the main stage as possible. Bekkah pointed out that there was a guy in the next section with his two sons, they looked like they were ages 8-10. Without missing a beat I replied "now there's a good father, he's taking his sons out for a bonding experience and because of it, they'll be closer and have that moment to look back on for years to come.". I don't think she agreed with me, eh. If I had kids, hell, I'd take them to a Knot concert.
The show was outstanding. I was on my feet the entire time and even lost my voice trying to match the raspy intensity that Corey delivered during the show. It took nearly 3 days for my voice to come back to me. Here's the setlist, as you can see... it was a nice mixture of new and old tracks from the current and previous album cycles. I would've snagged some video clips had I brought my camera inside. I didn't think I could sneak it in, but found that cameras (not professional) were allowed in the arena. Scheisse!
The setlist:
- (SIC)
- Eyeless
- Wait and Bleed
- Get this
- Before I forget
- The Blister exists
- Dead Memories
- Disasterpiece
- Everything Ends
- Purity
- Psychosocial
- Duality
- People=shit
- Surfacing
- Spit it out
That is all...
Cheers

'Til We Die (Bonus Track) From the album All Hope Is Gone 2008
Lyrics:
My friends are all hurting from moments and regrets and charity laced with a lie
And still we keep hoping, to fix all the defects and strengthen these seminal ties
We go on together for better or worse, our history is to real to hate
Now and forever we stay until morning, and promise to fight for our fate
'Til we die
'Til we die
The start of the journey is every bit worth it, I can't let you down anymore
The sky is still clearing, we're never afraid and the consequence opens the door
I've never stopped trying, I've never stopped feeling like family is much more than blood
Don't go on without me, the piece that I represent complements each and every one
'Til we die
'Til we die
We won't be forgotten, we'll never give in
This war we've acheived has allowed us to win
'Til we die
'Til we die
My last true confession will open your eyes, I've never know trust like the nine
Let it be spoken, let it be screamed, they'll never ever take us alive
'Til we die
'Til we die
We won't be forgotten, we'll never give in
This war we've acheived has allowed us to win
Carry on
Carry on
We'll never be broken, we won't be denied, our war is the pressure we need to deny
We'll never be broken, we won't be denied, our war is the pressure we need to deny
'Til we die
'Til we die
We won't be forgotten, we'll never give in
This war we've acheived has allowed us to win
Carry on
Carry on
We'll never be broken, we won't be denied, our war is the pressure we need to deny
'Til we die
'Til we die
'Til we die
We won't be forgotten, we'll never give in
This war we've acheived has allowed us to win
We'll never be broken, we won't be denied, our war is the pressure we need to deny

I picked up Slipknot's latest album "All hope is gone" yesterday but just started playing it. While this album is not nearly as aggressive (so far, just into "Sulfur") as their self titled album released in 1999. It is a step above and beyond their last album "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses". One of my favorite tracks (the vid played a big part) is "Psychosocial". So far, so good with this album. I'm already looking forward to the U.S. tour. I'll definitely be in the pit.
Back to the album. The guitar riffs are slightly more aggressive than on Vol. 3, but nowhere near as heavy as those on IOWA which was the darkest album the band managed to release. I'm listening to "Dead Memories", it doesn't quite fit the overall album and sounds like something that Stone Sour (Corey Taylor (vocalist) and James Root (guitarist)) would release on the side. It doesn't sit well with me right now. It doesn't sound like Slipknot. But hell, you have to give some major points to the Knot for updating the masks this album cycle right?
I'm going to keep listening to this album today and slap it on my iPod while I'm on my PC. I recommend this album to any newbie getting started with the Knot. It's a good album to break in any potential "maggot" and then I recommend purchasing the previous albums and build that library.

What else can I say but "Damn"! Okay, I'm going back to watch this video again.
I did my time, and I want out
So abusive, FATE
It doesn't cut, the soul is not so vibrant
The reckoning, the sickening
Back at you, subversion
Pseudo-sacred pyscho virgin
Go tell your classes
Go dig you grave
Then fill your mouth with all the money you have saved
Sinking in getting smaller again.
I'm done! It has begun, I'm not the only one!
And the rain will kill us all.
Throw ourselves against the wall.
But no one else can see.
The preservation of the martyr in me.
Psychosocial, Psychosocial, Psychosocial
Psychosocial, Psychosocial, Psychosocial
Oh, there are cracks in the road we lay
From when the devil fell
The secrets have gone mad?
This is nothing new
but when we kill it all
the hate was all we had
who needs another mess
We could start over
just look me in the eyes and say i'm wrong
now there's only emptiness
But I'm missing something
i think were good I'm not the only one
And the rain will kill us all.
Throw ourselves against the wall.
But no one else can see.
The preservation of the martyr in me.
Hey get that back inside,
I tried to tell you first
Your hurtful lies are giving out
Can't stop the killing, I can't help it.
Is there something psycho?
Is this what you want?
I'm not the only one!
And the rain will kill us all.
Throw ourselves against the wall.
But no one else can see.
The preservation of the martyr in me.
And the rain will kill us all.
Throw ourselves against the wall.
But no one else can see.
The preservation of the martyr in me.
