Not that I'm complaining one bit. I think it was roughly 0530 when I finally dozed off, I woke up an hour later and couldn't fall back to sleep. I stayed up reading a few tech articles, and of course any discussing the game later tonight involving Nebraska opening up conference action vs. Mizzou (Mizery) in Columbia. I think that I fell asleep around 0930 and woke up at 1500, while flipping through the channels, I found myself watching the coming of age comedy "Where the boys are" on Turner Classic Movies. It was considered to be a bedroom comedy, each female character represented a female archtype.
I enjoyed the film and actually certain scenes reminded me of my spring break, not in Fort Lauderdale (where the film takes place), but in Panama City, FL. Ahh the beer, the beach, and the crowd. How easily I was reminded about my trip meeting up with my fraternity brothers back then who had left a few days before me. I was enlisted (active duty) in the Marines (attending the University of New Orleans) at the time (took a week off) so I stayed on base (booking a room that I hardly stayed in) while they piled in to a room on the beach. I would drive through traffic every day to go meet up with them. Shortly after settling in to my room, I drove to the commissary to stock my fridge with enough food to last a week, then asked where the gym on base was.
I drove around to become more familiar with my surroundings, once I felt comfortable enough, I called my friends and met up with them down the street from their hotel. We met up at Hooters and had a few beers and started talking about our trip down. It was funny, because these guys were paying 60-70 per head to stay in the room they were envious when I told them my rate. I booked my room at $35 for the whole week! Yes, the entire week. HA! That left me with quite a bit of room for more partying (which it did). Going back to the film for a second, the huge draw of other students was accurate even for a place like Panama City. Just trying to cross the street was a task. Eventually, we gave up on trying to drive anywhere, so we just walked up and down the beach, even to the bar.
If we wanted to hitch a ride, we did just that. My best friend Gillis and I were walking back to the hotel and actually were picked up by a couple of cute girls who gave us a ride. One of the best memories from my trip was the Louisiana style crawfish boil we had the house of someone we all met while there. Those were the days. Hell, if only I had Twitter, Flickr, or even Vox then, I would've spent more time covering each event! Damn. Oh well, they still make for good stories with the brothers.
I was talking to a friend about song selection the other night and I happened to bring up the "club scene" from the 1998 film Blade. She knew where I was going with that and said she was looking for that track. I found it a few minutes ago, it's listed as the "elusive song" on Wikipedia. Now that I know what it's titled, next up is my online search for the tune.
I spent the better part of this evening getting the necessary items ready to reformat my parents PC and had Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith playing in the background. I had forgotten how hollow the acting was on Hayden Christensen's (deserving of the golden razzie award) part... not to mention there were so many holes that George Lucas tried to tie up since this was the last film in the prequel trilogy. Ugh. I've always believed that G.L. never should've taken over directing after the 1977 Star Wars (later named Episode IV). Yes, Episode V kicked ass. It was the darkest and best film out of the original trilogy and even out of the 6 movie saga. When Lucas came back, he took ROTJ (Return of the Jedi) and basically the Galactic Empire was overthrown by a bunch of muppets (Ewoks). WTH? Sad, sad, sad and for that G.L. deserves a kick to the coin purse.
Anyway, I found this script a couple years ago and thought it better than the original script used for ROTS. It's the ROTS abridged script. I couldn't stop laughing when I first read it. I was a long time Star Wars fan and I believe that G.L. sold the soul of the original story all for the sake of impressing people w/special effects. Bad move on his part. It's just a shame that the live action series will probably suffer because he'll be the one directing what goes on. Now, had they brought in let's say... PETER JACKSON, he could've saved the franchise. I'm sure everyone is familiar w/the LOTR trilogy (Lord of the Rings), he would've been more than capable of directing the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Who knows, maybe in another 30 years, the prequel trilogy we know today could (let's hope) be scrapped and remade. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
There's now an mp3 of the abridged script, the cast uses sound effects to sell it. HA! Enjoy.
Some may recognize this clip from "Meet the Parents". I used to be a dog owner, but I've been a cat enthusiast since 1992. Still, I wouldn't mind getting a dog. It's not like I can take either of my cats out for an afternoon run now can I?
We see how the new bat came to be, his trails and failures before he became the dark figure of justice that we recognize today. What makes this bat line of movies better than any other is that the badguy(s) live to fight another day, there's no grand finale death scene like in all the other comic to movie adaptations.
July 18th seems so far away. Ugh. Click HERE to visit the official website (Warner Bros.). Here's the link to the Why So Serious site where you can see the new movie poster.
What can I say but "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" Ok, so that's really not saying anything. I laughed loudly (seriously) at the opening of the ATHF (Aqua Teen Hunger Force) movie. I've never seen the move before. Actually, I had just finished watching the introduction to the film and took a break to blog about it. Talk about "metal".. \m/..
(from Wikipeida)
The movie begins with a song by The Soda Dog Refreshment Squad, in a parody of "Let's all go to the Lobby", only to be interrupted by heavy metal band Mastodon,
animated as various concession stand products, who warn the audience
that bad movie etiquette will result in severe bodily harm or death to
the viewer
On a side note, I'll never look at movie snacks the same way again. HA! Yes, I have a twisted sense of humor.
Cheers
Ok, I have to admit, this was probably THE best ad that aired last night.
Here's the other, it wasn't as funny though.
