It's not easy to earn the "Gear" tattoo, but I'm up for a good challenge. I want to be a Klokateer and earn the tatt in the most "metal" of branding ceremonies. Don't forget....Dethklok....here.... TOMORROW!
\m/ Cheers
Ticket to show, check!
Will, check!
Pain Waiver, check!
Kind of play on one of Dethklok's songs "Mermaider" from the DethAlbum. Again, they're coming to town July 5th on the DethTour. I can't wait! As you can see, I've already filled out my pain waiver.
For those not familiar with the band, they're on the show Metalocalypse that airs on Adult Swim. As for their music, well... it's "DethMetal". So there you have it. "The album debuted at #21 on the Billboard Top 200 list, making it the highest charted death metal album to date." (Wikipedia)
Why the Pain Waiver? It's because "the band members indirectly cause death and bad luck to those near them." If you're wondering where the Pain Waiver originated from check out the clip from S01E01 titled "The Curse of Dethklok". I've used this clip before in previous Dethklok posts so I'm sure some may recognize it (blog readers).

Most "metal" to see Skwisgaar
give a quick gutiar lesson, especially since he's always busy. He's either drinking, playing guitar, touring with Dethklok (main site
),
practicing guitar, partying with GMILFs, practicing guitar, more
drinking, or more time with the GMILFs. I dig that he show the guitar
tabs while showing finger placement on the frets
I'd travel all the way to Mordhaus (deep in Mordland) to take lessons from either Skwisgaar or Toki
.
Either one would be fine with me, but Skwisgaar IS "The Fastest
Guitarist Alive" while Toki is second. I have much to learn from
Skwisgaar. Here's the whole video for the Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle.
. I have my ticket for the show, I bought it right away (internet pre-sale).
Too much? Okay on to the list. I posted links to either the videos or tracks if available in my library.

Those are the thoughts that I can't allow to take over my mindset. Usually, I'll just play a particular song and go through the routine for that day in my mind while I sit there. I think about the complete breakdown from my initial warmup to each exercise. Down to the sets/reps, if that station is being used, then I think of 2-3 stations to sub in just in case.
I do love the training, pushing myself everyday. I've hit that wall, but I keep going. I'm stacking the second half of my legs workout on top of my regular Tuesday routine. I'll be there an extra 30-45 minutes tonight. Part of me says skip, but I can't. I have to stay disciplined. I have to finish. I can't fall behind on my weekly schedule.
The song I'm listening to now is "Perseverance" from Hatebreed. Usually I'll let my entire Hatebreed songlist play while I train. It helps me focus when I think about the music. It takes my mind off the pain. Discipline and determination right?
Cheers
ADDENDUM
Here's the video.
Slipknot's coming back to town and you know that means right? That's right... me jumping into the pit. There's really no better place in the venue than to be right where all the action is. Well, that and the band is right in front of you performing. Does it get any better? I've been a "Knot" fan since 1999, the band calls their fan base "maggots" or the "maggot corps". I guess that's somewhat similar to the KISS Army, but better because we're talking Slipknot here. I'm sure a pit full of fans whipped into a frenzy would back up that statement too.
I've enjoyed each album cycle, well Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses was so-so in my book. While they were trying to branch out, they stepped away from their heavier/more aggressive tones. I'm hoping the next album is a return to basics for the band. The video "wait and bleed" was the first Slipknot video I had seen. I was stationed in New Orleans at the time. The first time I heard the song and seen the video that goes along with it I was blown away by their sound. I've been a fan since. I even have my own #4 mask from the last album cycle and wore it to one of their last shows in Dallas. I'm not sure I'll break it out for the upcoming concert or not.
The next video is from the Disasterpieces DVD, it's called "Gently". I really dig Cory's raspy vocals. I've tried to mimic the same style of singing, hell that hurts. I don't see how they can do that for an entire performance or on tour for that matter. I guess perfect practice makes perfect eh? The camera shots fading in/out from different angles reminds me of the underground DJs when they'd pirate a cable signal to broadcast.
Nice track eh? Okay, last video. Here's "The Blister Exists" from the Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses album. They performed the track on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Check out the energy of Sid, Clown, and Chris during the song.
Cheers
I don't wanna die, I'm a god, why can't I live on?
Sorry, I just felt like singing along to Iron Maiden's "Powerslave" for a bit. (Lyrics, Video, Studio Version) It's a killer tune that I still enjoy listening to. The Harmony 880 that I uhhh Vox'd about previously... is so so "metal" \m/. Oh yeah, remember the 1985 (Has it really been that long?) Live After Death/World Slavery Tour in the Long Beach Arena? Well, I still have that on VHS, crazy huh? HA! What I've really liked about Iron Maiden is that they keep their same sound in concert as they do on their studio albums.*coughs*minus Blaze*coughs*
Anyway, I programmed my Playstation 2 into the 880. How cool is that? I even (as you can see) added Eddie as the background image. Nice huh? I didn't even know that I could do that. Program the Playstation to the remote I mean. I was just playing around with the software and BAM! Found it.
I really, really, REALLY dig this remote. :)

No, not I. I'm talking about the song performed by the 1970's classic metal band Black Sabbath. I'd say that "Paranoid" (lyrics) and "Iron Man" were the only two Sabbath songs I ever tried to play on guitar growing up. Guitar Hero fans can find "War Pigs", "Iron Man" and even "Paranoid" on Guitar Hero I, II, and III. I was trying to practice "Paranoid" last night on the guitar, just not the same without an amp which I'll just take care of on Monday at the Guitar Center for their holiday sale. Well, that and find a decent acoustic or as Toki/Skwisgaar would call it a "grandspas guitars".
Cheers
I wouldn't mind taking them in the future. I've gathered the tabs to re-teach myself how to play the guitar, but I think it would be great to eventually know how to play two instruments like the guitar and piano. I think that any musician paying tribute to another artist is great, but when the tribute is done with other instruments like a string section or piano, that's exceptional. So I'm envious for the time being, it gives me a new goal to work for.
I chose to post the song "Wasted Years" (Lyrics) off the 1986 Iron Maiden "Somewhere in Time" album. The song brings back those memories when I used to sit in my room and play this song back in middle school. Maiden was the first metal band that I got into, the first album I purchased was their S/T album. I walked into the record store to buy it when I was in the 6th grade and I've been a fan since. "Wasted Years" was the first Maiden song I tried to learn on the guitar. I'll post the original along with the piano tribute so you can check out both (first time Maiden listeners).
I caught the first episode to start the second half of season two after the long hiatus for the show Metalocalypse. The band is picking up where they left off with their misadventures. Pickles the drummer is stressed because his brother is getting married and he hates being around his family. There were two clips from that show that really made laugh my ass off.
The band ends up paying for this visit in more ways than one and has to perform (since everyone loves Dethklok) at the wedding reception. I'm interested in seeing how season two will wrap up. I'm also really looking forward to the Dethklok show coming to Dallas later this summer to promote The Dethalbum. \m/
Clip 1: "Tax breaks and adultery"
Clip 2: "Life Sentence"
"I am" is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that "I do" is the longest sentence? ~ George Carlin.
I'm sure you can piece together from those two clips that the show is focusing on marriage and mocking it more or less...LMAO
