Only 5 more days until Hatebreed (main site, myspace) comes to town! Hells ya I'm stoked. It's back at the Palladium Ballroom, not a bad place to jump into the pit. The last time I went, the pit action was intense. This time the band is going to be recording for the live album, so you can bet I'll be there again.
I've been fan since 2004 when my brother in law introduced me to their music. The first concert I went to was in December 2004 (Monsters of Mayhem Tour), I was fighting an upper respiratory infection at that time, but I didn't want to miss out. I probably should have stayed in to rest, but hell... it's Hatebreed.
What I've always respected about the band is that they play the large venues and even the smaller ones while out on tour. Jamey Jasta (frontman) said that without the fans, they wouldn't be where they are. He said it was the band's way of saying "thank you", so they play the smaller gigs to keep the ticket prices down.
Last year the band was headlining the Summer Of Supremacy Tour. The Dallas gig was the Monsters of Mayhem II show. Check out the flyer from last summer.
I'm going to try and sneak my camera into the show again. Last year, they wouldn't allow fans to take snapshots. I'd try to snipe a few here and there, but ended up waiting until the show was over to try and get some with the band. If you're in the area, try to attend, it's always a great night of music. Here's some shots from last year.
The first shot is of Jasta on stage, second shot is me hanging with Jasta after the show. The third shot is hanging with Trent (guitarist) of After the Burial, next shot is the paramedic that I asked to hold my stuff that night while I jumped into the pit (she was nice). Last shot, just the stage as they were breaking it down. If you've never been to a Hatebreed show, here's a video from Hellfest, the song is called "Puritan".
OZZFEST Returns As One-Day Stadium Festival With OZZY OSBOURNE And METALLICA - May 13, 2008
All eyes and ears will be on Dallas, Texas Saturday, August 9. Ozzfest — the original and iconic hard rock festival — returns in 2008 as a one-day stadium spectacular that teams Ozzfest founder and namesake OZZY OSBOURNE (in his only U.S. concert appearance this summer) with METALLICA (marking their Ozzfest debut).
Produced by Sharon Osbourne and AEG Live, the all-day festival at Pizza Hut Park in hard music-loving Dallas will feature three stages of non-stop talent (with many Ozzfest alumni) and reliably twisted Ozzfest side attractions.
Main Stage:
OZZY OSBOURNE
METALLICA
SERJ TANKIAN
HELLYEAH
JONATHAN DAVIS
CAVALERA CONSPIRACY
SHADOWS FALL
APOCALYPTICA
IN THIS MOMENT
All-star tribute to "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott
Second Stage:
SEVENDUST
DEVILDRIVER
KINGDOM OF SORROW
SOILENT GREEN
WITCHCRAFT
GOATWHORE
Texas (Third) Stage (homage to the "many great metal bands that come from Texas," according to Sharon Osbourne):
THE SWORD
DROWNING POOL
RIGOR MORTIS
"Ozzy just finished an 11-month world tour so I think he deserves a summer off," Sharon says about this year's one-day Ozzfest. "We're going to be a stadium destination festival for now — we have gone past doing the sheds every summer. We've given everyone else the blueprint and we have to keep evolving Ozzfest. This is just the beginning; AEG Live and I have a lot of new ideas for Ozzfest.
"
This year’s dynamic line-up encompasses artists who've played Ozzfest before in different incarnations such as Serj Tankian (SYSTEM OF A DOWN); Jonathan Davis (KORN); HELLYEAH's Vinnie Paul (PANTERA) and Chad Gray (MUDVAYNE); KINGDOM OF SORROW's Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED) and Kirk Windstein (DOWN); and Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, SEPULTURA) of CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. Other Ozzfest graduates include SHADOWS FALL, SEVENDUST, DEVILDRIVER, DROWNING POOL and IN THIS MOMENT.
"Ozzy has great relationships with all of the bands that have played Ozzfest," says Sharon. "We're the only real festival for harder edge bands and these artists have been very loyal to us — there is lots of love on this lineup.
"
Tickets for this year's Ozzfest will go on sale Saturday, May 31.
Damn, what a show! The show sold out, there were several bands playing that night. The doors opened at 5:30 and the music was going on until midnight. The pit was one crazed mass which was a sight to see. The crowd was whipped into a frenzy once Hatebreed began to play. Nothing like some good ol Connecticut hardcore to polish off a long week.
After the show, I stayed after to talk with Trent (After the Burial) and Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed)(again), and take a couple photos. All in all, one hell of an evening. I didn't care that I got lost driving to the Palladium or that I was going the opposite direction after the show was over. My voice is barely going back to normal. Next up Ozzfest.... August 2nd, and guess which band will be headlining stage 2??? Yup, HATEBREED!
