while listening to Hatebreed's S/T album. It's hardcore for the hardcore and I'm looking forward to their Dallas stop this coming November. I already bought my ticket, now I just need to buy a new mouthpiece because I'm going to be in the pit the entire night. Go buy the new album set to hit stores later today!
That is all.
It's only fitting that they cover "Hatebreeders" from the Misfits. Other songs (which equally kick ass) are "Escape" by Metallica, "Ghosts of War" from Slayer, "Supertouch/Shitfit" by Bad Brains, and "Life is Pain" by Negative Approach to name off a few. I'm listening to "Supertouch/Shitfit" right now, it's easily one of my favorites from this album, right up there with "Ghosts of War". There's a small number of songs on this album that I would hit the forward button on my iPhone (or while within iTunes), but for the most part I dig this album. I give this album two sets of metal horns thrown in the air!
The bonus tracks include live performances from Hatebreed's stop in Dallas, playing at the Palladium Ballroom. I've been to a few of these performances. I remember the bands 2004 stop off at Trees in Deep Ellum. That was my first live show and I've been as diehard as they come ever since. You can always find me in the pit where all the action is during their shows. This photo is from the show at the Palladium Ballroom with front man Jamey Jasta.

While enjoying my day off, I was just lounging around my apartment all day. That's right, I haven't set foot outside even though the high today was 88 degrees! I know, I should've been outside taking in the fresh air and enjoying the feeling of the sun hitting my skin while out and about. Hell, even a drive across town would've been more productive given what all I did (or in this case didn't) do as the day progressed. I wanted to listen to something classic, something that I hadn't listened to in some time and while browsing my music collection, I came across this. "To live is to die" from Metallica's "...And Justice For All" album.
The song is 9:48 seconds long, but you lose track of time just listening to it. Check out the Wiki entry (under the song title link) to read more on the background of the song. There are few lyrics in the song, but they're memorable none the less.
- "When a man lies, he murders some part of the world
- These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives
- All this I cannot bear to witness any longer
- Cannot The Kingdom of Salvation take me home?"
Rather than mess with YouTube in finding the video, I'll just post the mp3.
Cheers

'Til We Die (Bonus Track) From the album All Hope Is Gone 2008
Lyrics:
My friends are all hurting from moments and regrets and charity laced with a lie
And still we keep hoping, to fix all the defects and strengthen these seminal ties
We go on together for better or worse, our history is to real to hate
Now and forever we stay until morning, and promise to fight for our fate
'Til we die
'Til we die
The start of the journey is every bit worth it, I can't let you down anymore
The sky is still clearing, we're never afraid and the consequence opens the door
I've never stopped trying, I've never stopped feeling like family is much more than blood
Don't go on without me, the piece that I represent complements each and every one
'Til we die
'Til we die
We won't be forgotten, we'll never give in
This war we've acheived has allowed us to win
'Til we die
'Til we die
My last true confession will open your eyes, I've never know trust like the nine
Let it be spoken, let it be screamed, they'll never ever take us alive
'Til we die
'Til we die
We won't be forgotten, we'll never give in
This war we've acheived has allowed us to win
Carry on
Carry on
We'll never be broken, we won't be denied, our war is the pressure we need to deny
We'll never be broken, we won't be denied, our war is the pressure we need to deny
'Til we die
'Til we die
We won't be forgotten, we'll never give in
This war we've acheived has allowed us to win
Carry on
Carry on
We'll never be broken, we won't be denied, our war is the pressure we need to deny
'Til we die
'Til we die
'Til we die
We won't be forgotten, we'll never give in
This war we've acheived has allowed us to win
We'll never be broken, we won't be denied, our war is the pressure we need to deny

Check out Valerae's post on Metallica and video. I'm STILL listening to the album... holy hell! Metallica did the right thing in bringing Rick Rubin on board for this project, it's paid off. When the album hits do yourself a favor and buy it! I'm listening to "All nightmare long"... WHOA! The intro is brutal, it makes the listener (in this case me) want to just jump into that mosh pit and take up residence. The tempos change constantly which shows that the band has not slowed down since their early Alcoholica days. "Suicide and Redemption" reminds me so much of "To live is to die" from the "Justice" album. It's like they took the "shut the fuck up and just play" approach. You know what? It works for me.
I can't say enough things about this album. Words simply can't describe to other Metallica fans other than "Fuck yeah!", this is THE album we've been waiting for as a followup since "Justice" was released back in 1988. I don't care the cost of the ticket(s) when the Metallica tour stops in Dallas, I'M GOING! My faith in the band has been restored, I worried that this album was going to totally suck. I'm glad that I was wrong. So yeah, I can admit that all the while I'm banging my head to the metal goodness that is "Death Magnetic".

I picked up Slipknot's latest album "All hope is gone" yesterday but just started playing it. While this album is not nearly as aggressive (so far, just into "Sulfur") as their self titled album released in 1999. It is a step above and beyond their last album "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses". One of my favorite tracks (the vid played a big part) is "Psychosocial". So far, so good with this album. I'm already looking forward to the U.S. tour. I'll definitely be in the pit.
Back to the album. The guitar riffs are slightly more aggressive than on Vol. 3, but nowhere near as heavy as those on IOWA which was the darkest album the band managed to release. I'm listening to "Dead Memories", it doesn't quite fit the overall album and sounds like something that Stone Sour (Corey Taylor (vocalist) and James Root (guitarist)) would release on the side. It doesn't sit well with me right now. It doesn't sound like Slipknot. But hell, you have to give some major points to the Knot for updating the masks this album cycle right?
I'm going to keep listening to this album today and slap it on my iPod while I'm on my PC. I recommend this album to any newbie getting started with the Knot. It's a good album to break in any potential "maggot" and then I recommend purchasing the previous albums and build that library.

Check out this little jingle. Chimaira (lyrics) opened for Dethklok last month at the House of Blues in Dallas during the DethTour. I had the setting on "repeat" on my iPod today while I was training. I can dig it...
