3D: Dethklok Destroyed Dallas!

Holy SHYTE!  What else can I say but that?  I mean, HOLY SHYTE!  The show last night was brutal.  Soilent Green (myspace), Chimaira (myspace), and DETHKLOK!  The doors opened at 7pm with the show starting closer to 8 pm rather than the scheduled 7:30 time.  That didn't matter to me because I missed my exit and then took a wrong turn after that.  Oh, then I also had to walk 3 blocks becuase a few of the streets were closed due to some festival/block party going on near the West End. 

I finally made it to the House of Blues and then inside after the security checkpoint/search.  At first, I was on the outside looking in (pit) but then I started to make my way near the center (still inside the pit) where all the action was.  The show started shortly after that, Soilent Green was first to take the stage, their set only lasted 30-35 minutes.  They had a decent sound, but it got the crowd going early.  I wanted to get the pit out of the way early so I could make my way to the front to snag some shots so I jumped straight into the pit and was "mingling" with the locals.  HA!  It was fun, 3 of us went down only after a few minutes, but that was because one tripped and then I fell over him and then someone tripped over me. 

The moshing was intense too.  Now, believe it or not, but within the pit, there's actually  "moshing etiquette".  Always look out for your fellow mosher, that's the rule.  As soon we (2 out ot the 3 that tripped over the first guy) fell down, several rushed over to help us up and we were back at it so we wouldn't slow down the flow of the pit.  I got the slamming out of my system early so I could make my way towards the front before the first set list was finished.  I managed to snag a few good shots before Dethklok made it on stage.  There were a few that decided to crowd surf, I couldn't figure out which was more of the "dick move", the surfers that were kicking the individual people in the head as they were surfing over or the crowd that happend to throw punches towards the crotches of the surfers....LMAO.

After Chimaira finished their set the crowd started to chant "DETHKLOK" over and over then went into a cheer once the drumset for Pickles was unveiled.  Once the lights went out and the introduction for the band started, the crowd was going wild.  Then the first song played was the "Deththeme" followed by "Briefcase Full of Guts", two righteous songs I might add.  Brendon was right on when it came down to the timing of his vocals to the animation playing on the giant screen behind him.  It was kind of funny as he stood there doing the voices of Nathan, Pickles, and Skwisgaar thanking the crowd for being great to them.

The tour ends tonight in Austin, TX. (Noooooooooooooooooo!)  I'm so tempted to drive down there and catch the last leg of the DethTour.  I wouldn't mind taking my girlfriend, yup, I have one now.....WOOHOO!  But that's for another post.  Anyway, I wouldn't mind taking her to see the show, it would be kind of kickass to share that experience with her.  I'd probably give in to the temptation and try to jump into the pit again.  Tonight's show was actually moved to a larger venue due to the high demand of tickets.  Crazy huh?  It was too bad that they didn't play "Murdertrain a Comin", it's one of my favorites on the DethAlbum.  Well that and I wanted to hear Mashed Potato Johnson play on the "grandspas guitars".  I'm looking online for that killer Dethklok swag to purchase too. 

I ended up hanging around after the show and took some photos of the tour bus and even with the band members (except Gene (drummer)).  Here's what really sucked, my camera died as I was trying to snag a picture with Brandon (vocalist), but I was able to use my cellie as the backup.  He did sign my ticket to the show which I'm going to have framed with a few of the photos for my apartment.  I'll go back into this post to add the pictures after I watermark them.  I just want to get this post out right away.  Hells ya I'm STILL that stoked!
